Profil

Dr. Pujo Semedi Hargo Yuwono, M.A. adalah staf pengajar dan Ketua Program Studi S2 Antropologi di Departemen Antropologi, Fakultas Ilmu Budaya, Universitas Gadjah Mada. Memperoleh gelar Drs. dari Universitas Gadjah Mada pada 1989, gelar M.A. dari The Ateneo de Manila University, Filipina pada 1991, dan Ph.D. dari Universiteit van Amsterdam, Belanda pada 2001. Pada 2012 hingga 2017 pernah menjadi Dekan Fakultas Ilmu Budaya UGM. Beberapa kali juga pernah menjadi visiting professor di Departement of Anthropology University of Toronto (2010-2012) dan Institute for Ethnology University of Heidelberg (2014). Fokus penelitian yang ia lakukan berkutat pada tema-tema tentang masyarakat nelayan, pertanian, dan perkebunan. Ia masih setia meneliti masyarakat petani dataran tinggi Petungkriyono dan masyarakat nelayan Pantai Utara di Jawa Tengah sejak tahun 1980an hingga sekarang. Karya etnografi yang ia hasilkan adalah "etnografi yang menyejarah", di mana ia menggabungkan metode penelitian observasi-partisipasi ala ilmu antropologi dan studi arsip dan pustaka dari ilmu sejarah. Beberapa penelitian yang pernah dilakukannya antara lain Production of Wealth and Poverty in New Indonesian Rural Economies (2010-2012) bekerjasama dengan University of Toronto, Kanada; In Search of Balance: Indonesian Welfare Regime between State, Private Sector and Civil Society (2012-2017) bekerjasama dengan Universitetet i Agder, Norwegia; Indonesian New Economic Frontier (2013-2017) bekerjasama dengan De Radboud Universiteit Nijmegen, Belanda.
