As the Department of Anthropology grows, the relationships between members of the department become increasingly complex and diverse. The diversity and complexity of these relationships present both challenges and opportunities for the academic community of the department to manage differences and reap the cultural wealth of its members. The increasingly intense relationships between people require a trusted and effective institution. One of the systems established by the department is the Grievance Redressal Mechanism.
This mechanism aims to streamline the department’s performance and strengthen relationships among students, staff, and lecturers in the Department of Anthropology. It helps members understand the structure, roles, and functions of each unit within the department. The ultimate goal of this mechanism is to build a Department of Anthropology that is fair, accountable, transparent, and responsive to issues that arise in daily interactions within the department.
Gadjah Mada University and the Faculty of Cultural Sciences already have comprehensive mechanisms regarding academic ethics that must be followed by all members of UGM in general, and FIB in particular. The Complaint Handling Mechanism at the department level is an effort by the Department of Anthropology to resolve issues that arise before they become significant and spread.
The types of complaints received include:
