Visiting Lecture: Ageing and Digital Welfare on the German-Polish Border

Department of Anthropology Universitas Gadjah Mada invites all academic civitas to join the visiting lecture from Dr. Katharina Schneider (Katholische Hochschule für Sozialwesen Berlin) titled “Ageing and Digital Welfare on the German-Polish Border”

The lecture will be held on Wednesday, April 1st, 2026, from 15.00 to 16.30 WIB at Room Soegondo 709, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Gadjah Mada. This event is open to the public, and students are highly encouraged to attend.

Abstract:
How do older adults perceive, evaluate and participate in efforts at digitalizing public services, especially those that are meant to support them in ageing well? Recent research, both on older adults as (non-)users of technology and on digital welfare, challenges the assumption that digitalization would provide an easy solution to population ageing, and to the economic, political and social challenges associated with it.

Following the results of the MA in Anthropology Thesis Proposal Seminar held on Thursday, April 10, 2025, we hereby attach the list of thesis supervision assignments.

Thesis Supervision Allocation – MA in Anthropology, Even Semester 2024/2025

Please note the following important points

  • The assignment of thesis supervisors (DPT) has been determined based on the supervisor workload distribution and alignment of research themes as agreed upon during the proposal seminar and by the Graduate Program Committee of Anthropology.

  • Upon receiving this announcement, students are expected to revise their proposals accordingly and promptly contact their assigned supervisors to begin the advisory process prior to commencing fieldwork.

  • Before initiating thesis supervision, students must submit their data through SIMASTER via the following path: Akademik Kemahasiswaan >> Tugas Akhir >> Pengajuan Tugas Akhir >> Pengajuan >> Tugas Akhir.

  • Graduation requirements include a journal publication and the completion of 42–44 credits (including the thesis), with no grades of D, E, or TL, within four semesters of study plus a maximum of two semesters of extension.

Anthropology Course Registration Procedure

Notified to all students from non Anthropology Study Programs / Faculties at UGM, here we convey the procedures or procedures that need to be followed to obtain a quota for course classes offered by the Department of Anthropology.

Registration Procedure:

  1. The following is the List of Cultural Anthropology Undergraduate Courses for Even Semester 2024/2025 as a reference for taking courses.
  2. Fill out the registration form via the link: http: //ugm.id/DaftarMatkulAntro2024 (Fill in the data completely and in accordance with the actual information)
  3. For applicants from non-Faculty of Cultural Sciences UGM are asked to attach a letter of introduction from the faculty of origin to take courses offered by the Department of Anthropology.
  4. After filling out the registration form, please wait for further confirmation from the Anthropology Department via email.
  5. For applicants who successfully get a class quota, KRS courses will be inputted by the academic department of FIB, UGM.

Notes:

  • The registration form is open from Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at 10.00 WIB to Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at 16.30 WIB.
  • Filling in before and after the specified time is considered not recorded as a course registrant.
  • Courses that can be taken are elective courses and are intended for second to sixth semester students.
